The University Bookstore – Bóksala Stúdenta – has been operated by the Icelandic Student Services FS, since 1968.

The purpose and main objective of the bookstore has from beginning, been to provide students at the University of Iceland with textbooks and other study materials at a reasonable price. Over the years however, the scope of Bóksala Stúdenta has changed and increased significantly. Today it services all the universities in Iceland as well as a number of secondary schools and institutions, providing them with study materials and academic literature.

In addition to academic books, the bookstore has a wide selection of other books of all sorts and for all ages. Typically there are around 12,000 titles of various languages available. In addition, the store has a good selection of stationery, a wide range of University of Iceland branded products and gift products. In our online shop – boksala.is – you can shop for a variety of products. Our collaboration with Gardners Books Ltd, the leading international wholesale supplier, makes our webstore the largest on line bookshop in Iceland. You can also place a special order for books should you not find it at our on line shop. Bóksala Stúdenta is located in the heart of the University Centre and is open to everyone. We are within walking distance from the Reykjavík City Center and there is no shortage of parking facilities.

The Bookstore Café is located within the store. It offers high quality coffee in cooperation with Te & Kaffi coffee company.

The café is an ideal place to sit and relax, browse books and magazines, charge smartphones and computers and generally enjoy being at the University Centre.

Events are regularly hosted at the café such as book readings, publishing parties and other events for both children and adults alike.

Bóksala Stúdenta – is located in the heart of University College at the University of Iceland. Although the shop was established for the students and the products are priced for the student budget, the store is really open to everyone and everyone is most welcome to come and take advantage of our fine range of excellent products. We have stationery for all school grades, as well as notebooks and stationery for those who are taking their first steps at school.
